Lava Lava Island turned out to be a place where Jesus’ love flowed in wide
and wonderful streams. Everyone involved felt that there was calmness within the
excitement that was amazing to experience. The children were involved to a
greater extent this year, by completing a daily challenge which allowed them to
“walk their talk”. Our attendance was also more consistent over the 5 days than
in previous years. Children responded wonderfully to the invitation to bring a
friend and some asked for an initial prayer to accept Jesus as their Savior. The
daily volcanic eruptions were a hit and seemed to ignite children to praise and
worship with greater intensity.
On Sunday we concluded Lava Lava Island with a children’s service. Pastor Albert
had a short message for parents about “What Kids Need” and many parents reported
that they do not often hear such a message in their own congregations. Maggie
was our host for the rest of the worship celebration and used wonderful
illustrations and reviewed the Bible points and verses. Since everyone knew the
songs, the kids could sing with exuberance and the carefree passion that only
the Holy Spirit can give. The video production of the week was a fantastic
highlight and most children began singing to the music during the presentation.
Our barbecue was extremely well attended and as always the food was plentiful
and delicious. It was a good opportunity to touch base with parents and answer
their questions.
What a humbling experience it is for me every year to be part of such a
wonderful group of people who volunteer their time and resources to make this
outreach such a success. A great big thank you for all your prayers and support
and all praise to our heavenly Father, for His grace and protection.
